Ann Snyder demonstrates the epitome of a caring nurse on a daily basis. As part of the IV team, she goes to various units in the hospital to perform dressing changes on central lines and other IV-related patient care. On numerous occasions, Ann has provided candy or other treats for staff on the unit when they were having a difficult day.
Today, ICU was having such a day when a young patient who was 35 years old went into cardiac arrest and did not recover. The patient's 2 young daughters were in the room crying and the staff was outside the room crying when Ann came into the unit.
Ann asked the secretary, "Which nurse is caring for that patient?" Ann put her work aside and went down to the gift shop. When she returned she had a bag with a soda, snacks, and a note to the nurse. Her caring compassion for her fellow co-worker made a very sad day a little brighter.
