After an emergent surgery and a short interval before another surgery, Ashlie was my nurse. After having an unexpected ostomy placed, Ashlie was obviously well-educated and very patient with me as I learned to navigate my new normal. As a nurse myself, it was obvious to me when the unit was busy by the bustle of people, full rooms, and chiming alarms. Ashlie never once made me feel like my care was rushed. She took her time to explain things to me, perform her assessments and education, and was meticulous in doing so, even when I knew she was obviously needed elsewhere. Ashlie was always pleasant; she made conversation and checked on me frequently when she knew I was missing my family. She never once made me feel like I was just another patient assigned to her care.
