I want to recognize and thank Courtney for all she is to our unit. Last night the unit was understaffed with only 5 nurses. Courtney was the charge nurse, but she also had patients of her own. Despite a busy, grueling shift, Courtney was still able to rally the spirits of her nurses and provided invaluable help and support (as always)! She started a total of 7 IV’s for her nurses! At the end of her shift, Courtney checked in with her colleagues, who all had a busy night with lots of charting to do. She went and offered refreshments for her fellow nurses acknowledging the fact that others had a busy night and she would happy to support them with a coke from downstairs. As if that was not enough, she had to deal with a flat tire to make it home. I have watched Courtney’s progress from a new nurse to experienced nurse. She is a great preceptor and mentor for new nurses. Courtney even developed and implemented a mentorship program. She supported and continues to work with her unit managers. We are very fortunate to have her on our unit and I am thankful for her teamwork, excellence, purpose and compassion. Go Courtney!
