After seeing and interacting with plenty of nurses at Schneck in various departments I was blown away by Joy. I always ask questions about the care we receive, so I can have all the details. Joy was the first nurse who took the time to explain quite literally everything that she was doing, why, and how we would get there, what our Dr might say, and if that were the case she explained how that would work. We had labs drawn and she explained exactly which tube collection was for what labs and what information those labs would tell us, and why that information was important. After the lab results came back and we were still in the infusion cubicle she printed the results and explained which numbers the Dr was looking for specifically and where those numbers need to be and how far we have come in reaching that goal. She explained she was going to reach out to our Dr (surgeon) and let them know about the results and ask if we could add an additional day or two because we had missed one infusion with only a couple more left and our numbers were not where they needed to be yet. I asked lots of questions, maybe even questions she could not have answered but she was understanding and tried to get the answers we needed. I could not have been more impressed by her general compassion, and attention to the small details, and HEARING US! Joy is the kind of nurse we all want, I wish there were more like her, and I know there are some out there that also likely don't receive the credit they deserve! Thank you so much Joy!!
