Upon reflection, we kept coming back to the amazing emotional and physical support that Carrie provided the whole way.
My husband and I went into labor to deliver our firstborn son in March. The experience was incredible and was in large part due to the amazing nurse that we had with us that day, helping us along in the process. With our first labor, we had done a lot of preparation to lay out the type of birth plan we wanted to have. This was an extensive seven-page document (lol) to help outline the things we did and did not want to have that day as we brought our son into the world. From the start, Carrie was so attentive and open to our birth plan requests. She listened patiently to ensure she understood every aspect once we arrived and throughout the experience reminded us of things we had mentioned on our birth plan.
Getting into the throes of labor became a challenge and ultimately we went with an epidural to help manage contractions. I’ll never forget the feeling of Carrie holding me while my husband stepped out of the room through very intense contractions. She offered physical support by holding and rubbing me while also providing words of comfort and encouragement during that time. I will never forget it.
Once our son arrived, her support did not stop there. She made sure that I was immediately taken care of, and was also respectful of the precious time that we wanted to have with our son immediately following his birth. It wasn’t until we moved up to the next floor that my husband and I truly got to reflect on the experience. Upon reflection, we kept coming back to the amazing emotional and physical support that Carrie provided the whole way. I was truly sad to part with her as I felt like she had made a lasting impact on my life during one of the most important moments and experiences that we will never forget.
I can’t thank her enough for taking care of me, my husband, and our newborn son the way she did. Her patience, compassion, maturity, genuine care, and passion for her job truly shined through that day.
From the bottom of my heart, we want to say thank you to Carrie for this lasting impact she has made on us and our son. I can’t wait to tell him one day about the Angel that helped bring him into the world :) I will never forget about Carrie!
