Becky, Jasper, and Alex were assigned to my mom’s care during her time in the CCU. My mother was given too much insulin at her rehab facility and spent two days in the emergency room with sugar readings dropping way too low every fifteen minutes in spite of all the medical interventions being taken. After she was finally stabilized she received a room assignment in the CCU. She was so frightened and filled with anxiety and wasn’t even sure whom she could trust to take care of her. She ultimately needed dialysis and she was so nervous about the central line and the entire process. Her entire team did a phenomenal job taking care of her but Becky, Jasper, and Alex each made a huge impact on my mother’s recovery. Many nurses take good care of their patients, but these three had a very special way of exhibiting extreme kindness, gentle spirits, and a genuine concern for her mental well-being and treated her as a real person and not just another patient in a bed. Each one of these nurses spent time getting to know my mom as a person, responded to each of her concerns and questions with respect and compassion, and calmed her fears and anxiety. And that has made all the difference!!!
