Ellie has exemplified the nursing values of compassion, courage, and integrity in every patient interaction she has encountered. She has demonstrated excellence in her delivery of patient care and in the promotion of her professional nursing practice. She has been a role model both in the classroom and in the clinical setting. Ellie is always prepared and thorough in her knowledge of each patient and their plan of care. In addition, she is a kind and compassionate listener. She would often listen to frightened family members’ concerns and then relay those back to the nurse in charge. In one instance, she had a young patient in a motor vehicle accident who suffered a TBI and many other injuries. This patient also had younger children and family who were concerned. Ellie stayed, helped the nurse navigate questions, and calmed her family. Ellie consistently displays the qualities of caring, safety, and professionalism that are necessary for an exceptional nurse.
