I wanted to take a moment to bring to your attention the outstanding patient advocacy displayed today by Adam Rinaudo. Adam advocated to our Critical Care Team for a patient to undergo a trial of extubating prior to bedside tracheostomy and PEG placement. Upon consideration of Adam’s input, trach and PEG were deferred, and the patient tolerated extubating extremely well. This example of Patient Advocacy is paramount in healthcare, particularly in a teaching facility. I believe Adam’s service to patients serves as an example for others. Today without a doubt he saved a patient from receiving an unnecessary trach and PEG, and it wasn't even his patient.
