Michaela showed extraordinary care for an ICU patient. The patient's family shared with the DAISY committee that she was an advocate when they needed answers, even calling the patient's oncologists to ask for additional testing. Michaela not only offered comfort to the patient, but the family could not thank her enough for being their calming force and source of assurance. To help the patient recover from delirium she took him on a tour of the hospital by the windows to see the outside, and the sun. Michaela assisted in implementing structure to what felt to the family, like chaos. During the patient's stay in the ICU, there was a Tornado Warning. While the daughter had to leave the ICU, Michaela called her several times to give updates on his condition and how his wife was coping there. The family is eternally grateful to Michaela for her love and care during this difficult time.
