I was seen in OB triage. It was a terrible day for my husband and me, as we were informed I had a missed miscarriage during an outpatient follow-up. When I was placed in a triage room, Rachael was there immediately. She ensured we were comfortable, bringing us tissues and food (as neither of us had eaten lunch yet because we thought we were going in for just a quick follow-up appointment). Although we were there on one of our worst days, Rachael brought a sense of calmness and empathy. She reassured us that the doctor we were seeing was wonderful and made us feel like we were in good hands. She was patient and kind as both of us had questions, ones we had already as the doctor, but wanted to double-check. Lastly, as a nurse myself, I think it is hard sometimes to know what to say in moments when our patients are grieving. But I think Rachael handled us and our situation with such grace. I'll never forget the last thing Rachael said to us as we were leaving. She said, "I know we will see you back here, and next time it will be under different circumstances." And while that doesn't seem like much, I felt like I was able to leave with just a little bit of hope during a time when I felt completely hopeless. Thank you, Rachael!
