I would like to start by thanking Oscar for providing the best skillful and compassionate care since I have been admitted to this hospital. What some people have forgotten with COVID-19, I am unable to have visitors in the hospital at this time but Oscar made me feel safe and comfortable by letting his true love for nursing and patients shine through. It was the simple things such as making sure I stuck to my fluid restriction. As simple as it sounds, he went out of his way to get bottled water so I can actually see my intake. Not one of my nurses has taken the time to do this simple act. What must be noted is when I tried this on my own, I was told no. He was the first nurse in 3 days to offer me this despite no one else offering socks, providing a toothbrush, and toothpaste. Most importantly, he did his job correctly. He rounded on me every hour, actually took my orthostatic vitals and just took the time to let me know what the plans are for my care. Oscar took the time to listen to how sad and scared I was since my family could not visit me. Oscar showed me that nurses truly care for their patients. Oscar actually changed my mind about this hospital in the short time he was my nurse. You can tell this man loves his job and it truly shines through his work ethic. Every hospital should have nurses like him. I believe Kaiser Ontario is so blessed and lucky to have him. He also was unaware that I am a nurse and took his time to explain everything he was doing. He did not know that I knew what he was doing but it was the most positive experience I could ask for from another nurse.
