We work in a world that operates 24/7 in shifts, and those shifts have to be managed by charge nurses. We need nurses like Kandyce McGill on that charge pod!

We often times use “amazing things are happening here” but “amazing….” truly is the backbone of what we do here. They say 4 Tower is NOT a specialty unit- but that’s because we take care of every single specialty patient. Transplant, GI, Ortho, Renal, GU, OMFS, Plastics, Neurosurgery- name it, I'm pretty sure I forgot somebody!

From a nurse who could not turn, clean, change the diapers, or apply and remove a treatment vest to a total care patient without the help of at least 2 other nurses- I will have to express my heartfelt gratitude to our charge nurse who was there with me every single time for 3 nights in a row in her 4 shift stretch. She did this while troubleshooting our eternally problematic Peritoneal Dialysis and responding to RRTs. Kandyce was never “without a patient” because it seemed to us like everyone was hers.

Kandyce McGill takes the great responsibilities of a charge nurse in a unit like 4 Tower with such ferocious determination and boundless energy. I am proud to call you my team leader!
