She has truly been the glue that has held our floor together. I can't count the number of times I have heard ‘I'm still here because of Brittany.’
Brittany has a passion for nursing that is evident in everything she does. She has so many qualities that make her an excellent nurse; it would be impossible to focus on just one reason why she is a DAISY Nurse.
Brittany has an amazing ability to adapt to change. She was able to rally her floor through all the changes that COVID-19 brought. She has truly been the glue that has held our floor together. I can't count the number of times I have heard ‘I'm still here because of Brittany.’
Brittany is not selfish with her knowledge. She believes that teaching and developing others is what is best for our patients. She knows that she cannot be everywhere, in every room, all the time. She empowers her staff to be autonomous. She lets her staff shine and builds upon their individual strengths.
Brittany fosters teamwork by not being afraid to get her own hands dirty and working right alongside her staff. When things get rough on the floor, she drops what she has and puts the patients and staff first.
Brittany is innovative. She thinks outside the box to find solutions to problems. For example, creating the rooms in the PT gym for our orthopedic surgeries, as well as a specialized role for the nurses who enjoy caring for that specific population. She is creative in trying to bridge the gap in our staffing shortages by tapping into an untouched pool of applicants. She did this by working to bring the youth apprentice and career academy programs to Bellin.
It is a combination of Brittany's adaptability, selflessness, innovation, and passion that make her deserving of a DAISY Award. She is real. She doesn't change who she is to suit others. She doesn't tame her passion. Instead, she lets it drive her to be better and never stop learning. At the end of the day, everything she does is for our patients.
