When he returned, he was in such a better mood. Later that evening, Larnette took him again, which just made my heart melt.
Demonstrating Kindness and Compassion to Patients and Families: I am a night shift nurse that was working days. The staff thought one of the patients on the unit was confused. The patient continued to state that he was leaving to go see his wife who was in the hospital. Larnette stopped what she was doing and looked into what the patient was saying. Come to find out that the patient’s wife was in the hospital on a different unit. So she stopped what she was doing to take this patient to see his wife. When he returned, he was in such a better mood. Later that evening, Larnette took him again, which just made my heart melt. She was supposed to get off around 430pm that day, but because she stopped to take a minute to help someone, it was around 630pm that night when I saw her clock out.

Providing Skills Care to Patients and Families: Larnette provides the skill of caring for someone, no matter what she is doing.

Informing and Educating Patients and Families: By taking the patient to see his wife, shows that she was informing the patient and family that she cares and enjoys what she does.

Touching the Lives of Others: Not only did Larnette touch the heart of the patient, his wife, and his family, she really touched my heart. Everyone here at Cape Fear Valley Hospital should be glad that we have this young lady as a staff member here.
