I have had Motor Neurone Disease for 7 years. To date it has taken away my mobility, speech and I have some difficulty using my hands. I recently had a fall in which I broke my leg. Then the usual happened – Ambulance, A&E, X-ray, placed on a ward then finally moved again to Ward 16. Whilst all the nursing staff was very efficient, one stood out – Mitchell Howard. Being unable to speak is a great barrier but Mitchell showed understanding of my condition. He is extremely good at what he does and carried out his duties in a caring, compassionate, professional way whilst maintaining my dignity. Nothing was too much trouble for him. He had so much patience and always had a smile on his face regardless of what was asked of him. He truly is an asset to the NHS.
