Elizabeth was nominated by her Senior Clinical Instructor, who was consistently impressed with Elizabeth's genuine interest in doing her best for her patients and doing things right. Elizabeth is invested in her learning and narrowing her knowledge gaps and asks questions and seeks clarification independently - demonstrating a strong sense of accountability to her care. At the bedside, Elizabeth is a natural and treats patients with the utmost respect and brightens their day with her smile. One day while in clinical, particularly, Elizabeth was cleaning up a patient alongside the CNA. The patient started having difficulty breathing and was appearing to have distress. Elizabeth gathered some assessment data and was concerned about the patient's stability. The CNA attempted to reassure Elizabeth that " she is okay" "she will be fine" "just relax". But, Elizabeth, stuck to her knowledge, her assessment, and her confidence in her scope of practice, and decided to ACT. She called for help, and initiated a Rapid Response, rescuing this patient, whose oxygen levels were truly declining. Elizabeth knew it. She trusted herself and she spoke up, saving this patient.....Congratulations Elizabeth!
