Mr. Anthony Neal joined CNVAMC In February 2022 as the nurse manager of the medicine clinics in Ambulatory care. He definitely hit the ground running! Since his arrival he has faced staff vacancies on all levels of his area from patient care vacancies, Interdepartmental nurse manager vacancies, and the vacancy of his immediate supervisor. He was detailed to cover nurse manager role of Primary Care where he was able to quickly adapt to not only new protocols and procedures, but to new staff as well. He constantly makes himself available for interview panels and is training other staff in the roles of interviewing and being “acting” nurse managers. Mr. Neal does not hesitate to pick up the phone and question people or processes, especially in regards to hiring which helps applicants onboard more quickly. He is learning processes that are new to him and adapting quickly. His friendly nature allows him to be approachable to staff, physicians, and Veterans. Through staff observations and positive comments, the medicine clinics are operating smoothly.

Recently a Veteran was lost, and Mr. Neal took the time to assist the Veteran. The Veteran expressed how professional and respectful Mr. Neal treated him. The Veteran stated, “he’s a really nice guy”.
