In January of 2023 I was admitted to Duke Raleigh hospital through the emergency room for excruciating pain. It was determined that my lung cancer had spread to my spine and liver. Obviously, I was devastated, angry, in pain, and absolutely not the ideal patient! However, upon my arrival, my attending nurse treated me with the utmost patience, kindness, and care. He, Jackie, and their other colleague arranged for a visit with my dogs by getting approval for me to be taken down to the parking lot via wheelchair so I could visit my fur babies. The staff videoed the visit and it is something I will forever cherish! I can't say enough about the efficiency, patience, and kindness, each and every one of these nurses exuded to me during my stay. Had they not been as absolutely wonderful as they were, I am not sure I could have survived! They never missed a lick! Fast, efficient, caring, competent, and honestly, angels on earth each and every one of them. I am so very thankful that I was entrusted with their exceptional care during the worst time of my life! Further, they treated my husband and visitors with the same compassion and respect as they did for my care. My husband was comfortable to leave after each visit knowing I was being well taken care of and he could go home and take care of the things that needed his attention. Beyond grateful for the care I received by all of these nurses which was absolutely impeccable! I know I still have a tough journey, but I have no fear of being hospitalized because of the exceptional quality of care I received from the nurses on this floor. They are the perfect example of what an impact such a great team can provide for their patients. I actually feel honored to be in their care! And will be forever grateful and thankful for the exceptional care they provided me during the worst days of my life. And always with a smile and a great attitude. May God bless each and every one of them. Each one treated me with dignity, compassion, and respect, which is rare in any profession these days. They took pride in their work and completed all tasks no matter how awful, with professionalism, courtesy, and compassion.
