Vanessa clearly demonstrates the values of Bon Secours Mercy Health. Vanessa shows compassion to her patients by providing excellent care and they love her. We all love her. Vanessa displays the value of service when she steps in during a crisis and handles the situation in a calm manner. She is our go-to person for everything professionally and personally. As a leader on the unit, she communicates with us, sometimes too much. She has really stepped up into her role since arriving to MMC and has become an excellent role model. She is always available to work extra to meet the needs of the unit, is very knowledgeable, and loves to teach the newer nurses to help instill confidence, sharpen their skills and ensure her team is strong. She takes her time teaching her patients so they understand their post-op instructions. She has been described as the epitome of a nurse leader when she offered to help support an associate that needs a ride to and from chemo each week. She has a very giving heart and expects nothing in return.
