Brittany made an extremely painful experience just that much more bearable.
Today I received a D&C. It was my first pregnancy, and my husband and I were excited to be parents. Unfortunately on the morning of the 27th in the lobby of my first OB appointment, I found out my grandpa passed away from pancreatic cancer that was diagnosed two weeks ago. Thirty minutes later I learned my baby had no cardiac activity and was too small in size. It had stopped developing. Going into the hospital today was like a nightmare. So much grief to process in such a compressed amount of time. Brittany was attentive and kind. With whatever decisions she delicately asked me about, she was sure to reassure me there was no right or wrong answer; to just do whatever would help me heal. She maintained my dignity and validated me in my feelings as I cried. She was gentle and made me feel safe. She talked to me through each thing she was doing, why she was asking me certain questions, and where I could go for additional resources. Brittany made an extremely painful experience just that much more bearable. I left the hospital feeling more mentally at peace than I have since this has all happened because of the people that worked with me. I’ll be forever grateful I had the people with me today that I did.
