She was pleasant, comforting, encouraging, very professional, and knowledgeable in the application of her nursing skills
This was my first real invasive surgery, a pelvic organ prolapse. I was not afraid, but a little apprehensive at the whole daunting procedure especially since I am almost 80 years old. Tricia took care of me post-operatively. During the day she walked me gently through the steps to be followed immediately after a hysterectomy. She was pleasant, comforting, encouraging, very professional, and knowledgeable in the application of her nursing skills. She made me feel important and well looked after. I am almost willing to do it again for such attention. I was taken in to surgery about 7:20 AM and by 5:00 PM, I had met all the protocols for discharge from the hospital so I no longer needed to remain overnight, which I had expected to have to do. Tricia started the discharge instructions.  She carefully explained how not to scrub off the super glue on the five post surgery holes in my abdomen for at least a week and to towel off by patting and not rubbing with the bath towel. She warned me about not overdoing it in taking Percocet along with Tylenol, since Percocet contains Tylenol. She covered all the details and made sure I understood. I was allowed to go home that evening and was home on my couch by 7:00 PM the very same day. Now how is that for a success story? Much of it depended, in my opinion, on Tricia's advocacy on my behalf. She truly focused on serving the patient and I am grateful and recovering quite handily. Tricia deserves to be recognized for her extraordinary nursing that day and for caring for this elderly female patient.

Note: This is Tricia's 2nd DAISY Award!
