Paula's positive attitude and care assured me I was in great care.
Paula saved my life. I am a 60-year-old woman, retired Air Force, and I had been experiencing shortness of breath since December 2022. I almost passed out twice. I walk 15 miles a week and I progressively declined exercising due to my shortness of breath. In January of 2023, I met Paula for my stress test. She was very caring, and I noticed she took her job seriously. She asked many questions about me and my health. About 2-3 minutes into the stress test, she stopped the test. She immediately noticed my irregular rhythms. She was very concerned and excited about the EKG results as she “had never in her 20 years seen my irregular beats.” She immediately contacted Dr. P and they had me admitted to the VA. Paula saw the catastrophic potential of my health and acted without hesitation. I waited for a few hours in the test room, and she continuously checked on my care. She said I would need a pacemaker and she was right. Her positive attitude and care assured me I was in great care and that no matter what I was going to be ok. She would give me the best smiles. While at the VA waiting to be transported to Jewish Hospital for the pacemaker, Paula hand-delivered my infamous EKG for me to give to the doctors at Jewish. As this EKG showed the lengthy results versus snapshots the doctors at Jewish might only see. Paula went the extra effort because she cares. I had never met her before, and I believe Paula just has a heart and concern for others. I went back for a follow-up at the VA and she came to say hello and see how I was. Once again, going the extra mile. Paula is a true nurse and a very special person. She has the best smiles and hugs.
