Alona was caring for a patient who came in with an accidental overdose. While he was here, he admitted to having a problem with drugs. He bonded with Alona during his stay. She was caring and compassionate and spent a lot of time helping him. He made a promise to her that he would not go back to using drugs. This patient did not have clothing when he was discharged. Alona brought clothing and shoes from her home for this man to wear home. She also found a coat that was left on the floor years ago for him to wear in the snowy conditions. He returned the following week to see Alona and thank her again. As he relayed his story, he stated that he believed she was like a daughter to him and would not go back to his old ways. During his visit, he said he had been clean and was moving to Ohio. He wanted to make sure that she knew he kept his promise to her by not going back to drugs and that he will not because of her. He said he is going to keep his promise because she showed him such respect and genuine concern while he was here.
