Talia advocates for our moms and their families with a personal touch.
Talia is a relatively new nurse to L&D, but her desire to learn and her commitment to her patients is easily noticed. Her professional practice and confidence have grown tremendously in the last few months. More recently, it has been noticed that Talia has often shared words of sincere gratitude and appreciation for those she works with. She warmly compliments others and frequently builds morale - this engages our team more and gives us encouragement.
But my personal desire to recognize Talia came specifically from the way she provided care to a mother who unfortunately lost her baby. This patient came onto our floor with very critical vital signs and lab values, all while learning that she'd lost her baby at 33 weeks. Talia provided committed care to this patient through 2 days of her stay on the unit. She took on the emotional task of bringing the baby to mom's side for viewing and further reached out to show her sympathy by sending a large bouquet of flowers to the patient on her day of discharge - all with words of sympathy and love to remind the patient how much it meant to her that she could be involved in her care.
It's not often that we see this type of attention to care provided, and it's certainly not that often that these stories reach into the personal lives of the nurses that care for them. As someone who works side-by-side with Talia, I'm proud to have her as part of our team. She advocates for our moms and their families with a personal touch.
