Josie always steps in to help and goes the extra mile to either explain it to you or sometimes proceeds to do it herself.
Since working on ARS, I have been lucky enough to be placed on a nearly identical schedule as Josie. When you work with Josie, it always feels like there is someone who is the eyes and ears of the unit, and who has a good grasp of everything going on with the patients as well as the answer to countless questions.

If you ask Josie a question, whether it be advice about a patient situation or a specific procedure of how things are done, she doesn't just give you an answer. Josie always steps in to help and goes the extra mile to either explain it to you or sometimes proceeds to do it herself. Josie is an exceptional patient advocate and recently went above and beyond to aid a patient in reconnecting with her newborn, who by a series of unfortunate events had been placed in a NICU outside of our system.

Josie spent several hours on the phone talking to an array of staff members from Swedish and elsewhere trying to ensure this patient would be able to see her baby. I am certain that in the midst of doing this, Josie was also caring for several other patients, making sure all other staff had their breaks and helping out in whatever ways she could. The thing is, this is not an exception to how Josie handles things, this is just the attitude she has in dedicating herself to whatever the task is at hand.

In addition, Josie consistently stays for overtime or picks up additional shifts when the unit really needs her help. Again, this is not the exception for her, it's just the way she goes about things. If our unit needs help, Josie will step in with no questions asked. I feel very lucky to have been able to work so many shifts side by side with Josie. She is truly an exceptional, dedicated nurse who is unwavering in her support to not only our patients but also our unit. We are very lucky to have her on our team.
