The impact that Meningioma has had on my wife’s life has changed our way of living tremendously. After the surgery and removal of the tumor from my wife’s brain, we both were left with thoughts on where we go from here.

The therapy and counseling were a part of the treatment from surgery, but we were still in the dark about the recovery of her sight and being able to function properly. We were recommended radiation treatment due to the residue of the tumor that was left.

The team at the Radiation Treatment facility in South Hill was amazing. Joanna Powell was outstanding. She “in” processed my wife and immediately began to encourage her and let her know that everything would be all right. Not only did she reinforce her wellness, but she began to explain exactly in detail what would be happening for her treatment in radiation. Her calmness and description of the radiation treatment helped ease my wife’s mind and relax her to the point that she was ready to begin treatment.

My wife’s imagination of how bad radiation was initially gave her stressful moments whenever she thought about the treatment; but Joanna reinforced the easiness of treatment and the care that she would be given to a point that my wife felt a sense of calmness and relaxed for the upcoming treatment.

I highly recommend Joanna as a nurse to anyone who may need the reassurance that it takes to go through difficult health issues.
