Baylie would swab out his mouth with a sponge and apply salve to his dry lips. You could look at his face and see how good it felt to him.
My husband died of Covid and Pneumonia. I am very hard of hearing. He was in the MICU at Summit and everyone had to wear masks and gowns. His illness was sudden and I was not prepared to lose him.

Baylie was very patient with me. She made an effort to talk louder and to look at me when she talked. She even wrote the name of the medications on the white board and printed out info on them so that I could understand what was going on. There were lots of meds that I had never heard of. She always explained what she was doing and why like adjusting the IV, changing oxygen masks, and when the tube was put down his nose to his stomach.

He kept asking for a drink of water, but it was not allowed. He had a very hard time with ice chips, so that was stopped as well. Baylie would swab out his mouth with a sponge and apply salve to his dry lips. You could look at his face and see how good it felt to him.

She always talked to him and told him what she was doing. She was very patient waiting for him to urinate and then would clean up his mess. Baylie always had time to answer questions and explain what was happening.

Baylie called our daughter out of state to tell her what was going on with her dad. Baylee was an angel. My grandson is in nursing school, and I hope he will be the kind of nurse Baylie is: kind, caring, and patient.
