Mercedes made me feel that my problem is her problem too. She treated me with respect, empathy, and compassion.
Mercedes Ranero, Case Manager can regularly be seen going above and beyond for all of our patients to provide exceptional care. Mercedes keeps our patients safe by ensuring they are linked with appropriate services prior to leaving the hospital. She is considerate in her assessment and her execution particularly when it comes to marginalized vulnerable patients.
Recently, for a patient who was having challenges post-discharge with insurance and securing medication – Mercedes went out of her way to ensure the patient was safe and had everything he needed to receive the medication he needed. The patient’s partner was adamant that Mercedes receive recognition for her diligent work to go above and beyond for the patient.
Another patient wrote: I was on 4N with a pulmonary embolism. I was prescribed an anti-coagulant that would cost me $500 a month. Mercedes called me after I was discharged and continued to help me get the medication I need. The insurance did not cover it but I was grateful that Mercedes made it a point to reach out to me even after I was discharged. Mercedes made me feel that my problem is her problem too. She treated me with respect, empathy, and compassion. Thank you, Mercedes!
This type of interaction is the norm for Mercedes. She always provides care above and beyond for our patients. She is kind and considerate in her interactions and solves complex issues with a calm demeanor always providing dignified care.
