It was so incredibly nice to know that someone who had just met me was willing to go out of their way and make me feel as safe and cared for as possible.
Let me start by saying that I came in because I was mentally unstable and worried I might hurt myself that night, and I left with a restored faith in myself and my experiences in emergency room visits. My triage nurse Kristin wrote me a small note of encouragement after her shift and gave it to me as she left. It was very kind, reminding me that “the world is a better place with you in it”. To be completely honest, I have it hung up in my room and look at it frequently; because after I hit my lowest point and decided to go to the hospital that night, I’d been terrified. It was so incredibly nice to know that someone who had just met me was willing to go out of their way and make me feel as safe and cared for as possible. It really gave me a sense of not being alone in the world. Everyone else I was in contact with was incredibly kind to me, going above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and felt safe. If more people in life operated like your staff the world would be a better place. I hope this message is as helpful as the one I received during my visit, and I hope one day I can return the favor to everyone who helped me stay out of the scary places my mind took me before I came in that night. Thank you all so much.
