Monica has a way of communicating clearly and with such kindness, that my mom felt so much more at ease when things were being explained.
Monica took care of my mom after she was admitted to the Med-Surg floor following a hip replacement. My mom was having a slow difficult recovery, and was feeling really disheartened about needing to stay in the hospital longer than she initially intended.
We had wonderful nurses caring for my mom every step of the way. From pre-op to the ortho floor, to Med-Surg, she truly received top-notch care throughout her stay.
What impressed me the most about Monica was her compassionate care and patience. She took the time to answer every question, even if my mom had already asked a few times before. My mom was anxious, homesick, and worried she wouldn't be able to return home. Monica was very proactive about my mom's care, and advocated for what she felt was needed. Even though I knew Monica was busy with other patients, she was incredibly responsive and took everything in stride. She entered the room with positive energy and a friendly demeanor and paid attention to every detail of my mom's care.
Luckily my mom was discharged home when Monica was on shift. She was wonderfully thorough with her discharge teaching, making sure my mom was understanding everything every step of the way. She asked her to repeat back the teaching to make sure she understood.
Monica is an exceptional nurse, and we feel blessed that she cared for my mom during a difficult admission. Her humor, authentic presence and commitment to providing excellent care definitely made a lasting impact.
