I am privileged to write in support of my current teammate Aubrey. Aubrey has been a dialysis nurse for close 5 years, during which time I witnessed her tremendous growth and development as a home nurse. Her leadership and care for her patients throughout the years have been a wonderful contribution to our program.

She has been extremely passionate about her work as a nurse and continuing education within her field. She has long since become a very valuable member of my team, and a role model for her new teammates.

I would like to share just one of the many patient stories about Aubrey. Aubrey not only loves being a nurse but she is a lover of animals, especially dogs. When Aubrey was a PD nurse she became very close to one of her patients, she would make weekly visits to the patient’s home to ensure that the patient was doing well. Unfortunately, the patient became very ill and ended up on hospice. The patient; knowing Aubrey was such a wonderful lover of animals asked if she would care for her dog after she was gone. Aubrey did not hesitate and took the mommy dog role on. She not only gave this dog a new home but peace to her patient knowing that Pep would be loved and cared for long after she was gone.

She has given her patients quality and compassionate care throughout her years as a nurse and it is with that; I recommend Aubrey for the DAISY Award.
