Annabelle Abaya is an exceptional nurse, both in her leadership role as a Charge Nurse/Supervisor and when working additional shifts on the BHU floor. Her peers look to her as a role model and leader. Another nurse observed that she loved to work with Annabelle because she is awesome and that she knows how to lead during stressful situations. This is so important to a team of co-workers when dealing with a Behavioral Health population on the night shift. As is her consistently calm, soft-spoken voice and who likely would have escalated to a point where presence. In addition to the positive relationships she has with her nursing team, she exudes a professional approach with other members of the multi-disciplinary treatment team, including members of the medical staff and community partners like facilities, licensing agencies, and law enforcement. She is a strong communicator/problem-solver with hospital leadership in relation to challenges in managing her shifts. Her thoughtfulness and depth in relation to patient assessment/care prove she is always concerned for the best interests of our patients. She has a strong working knowledge of co-occurring medical conditions in our BHU patients.
