Nurse Heather was upbeat, reassuring, and comforting from the moment she walked into my room.
Nurse Heather was my day nurse. It was day 3 of my stay in L&D and I was pretty miserable from long and difficult labor that was not progressing much. Nurse Heather was upbeat, reassuring, and comforting from the moment she walked into my room. After she saw how much pain I was in from contractions, she noticed that something was off. I had my epidurals, but I was in excruciating pain. So Heather explained and gave me the option to get my epidurals re-done. I was hesitant. I had already had two anesthesiologists try putting epidurals in and the experience was painful. I had too much trouble getting the one in that re-doing seemed like a big risk. But after nurse Heather explained the process and how it could help me relax and progress my labor, I decided to go for it.

It was the best decision; the third time it actually worked. From there my labor progressed much faster. Heather was there every step of the way and she kept me calm and informed. She helped me push and deliver my daughter. I honestly don’t know how I could’ve delivered my baby without her there that day. Her support, comfort, and confidence were exactly what I needed that day as a patient who was scared, in pain, and anxious. She also noticed that I had a fever right before pushing which turned out to be an infection. All were caught because Heather was so attentive. Her kindness and attention made what was otherwise a very difficult labor into something that I will remember more positively.
