He is knowledgeable and has the confidence to clarify treatments with the physicians. This made me feel important. Josh takes the time to understand why I am concerned and, at times, frustrated. He treated me like family.
I want to recognize Josh for the excellent care he has provided to me, and so much more.
Due to a GI track bleed, I have been in and out of the hospital, Inova Alexandria. I was a little frustrated having to come in again when my blood count dropped but trusted it was the right thing to do. Josh has explained everything thoroughly to me and to my understanding. He uses words I understand, which shows he CARES that I understand what medications and treatments are ordered. This allows me to ask questions if anything needs clarification or review. It was apparent this matters as much to me as Josh.
Each medication was explained and he double checks, reading each out loud. This made me feel safe in his care (you hear so many stories of medication errors in hospitals). He is knowledgeable and has the confidence to clarify treatments with the physicians. This made me feel important.
Josh takes the time to understand why I am concerned and, at times, frustrated. He treated me like family. He doesn’t do this because its his job, he does this because he cares!
Josh was patient, as always, today. I needed more laxatives and enemas. He waited for questions, he warmed the water, and he talked to me kindly to ensure I was comfortable. Did he let me sneak cream in my tea? NO! Why? Because Josh is looking out for my best interests. That is how Josh is- kind, empathetic, and patient, and teaches and supports us to do the right things. He is an amazing nurse and he deserves this award.
