I want to nominate Ethan, a new grad nurse who has demonstrated exceptional compassion and dedication in providing patient care. Despite being a new nurse, Ethan has already significantly impacted the lives of the patients and their families. One particular incident stands out to me. Ethan was caring for a patient whose husband had passed away earlier that day while she was in the hospital battling her own health. The patient was devastated that she did not get to say goodbye to her husband before his passing. Despite having a full assignment of patients and a long night ahead of him, Ethan felt he had to do something to help ease the patient's pain. He took the time to sit with her, listening to her stories and memories of her life with her husband. He provided a listening ear, offering words of comfort and encouragement. Ethan's empathetic and kind demeanor played a significant role in helping the patient cope with her grief and feel less isolated in her pain. His compassionate care allowed the patient to begin processing her emotions in a healthy way, taking the first steps toward healing. As the night went on, Ethan continued to check on the patient, ensuring she was comfortable and had everything she needed. He spent hours talking with her, offering comfort and support during her darkest hours. By the end of the night, the patient was visibly calmer and more relaxed, largely thanks to Ethan's compassionate care. The patient's family members were deeply touched by Ethan's kindness and commitment to exceptional patient care. They were grateful for the time and attention that he gave to their loved one, and they recognized the impact that his care had on her emotional well-being. Ethan's selflessness and dedication to his patients are truly remarkable, and his compassionate care embodies the very essence of The DAISY Award. He has already made a significant impact on the lives of many patients and their families, and I do not doubt that he will continue to do so for many years to come.
