Sherri Carter joined the San Francisco VA in 2019 and has been a good addition to our Nursing TEAM in 2B South. As a Veteran herself, she fosters ICARE Values and promotes patient-centered care. She is passionate and enjoys teaching new nurses and colleagues. She leads the unit in bringing fun activities/trivia for nurses to participate in to promote good morale.

Sherri naturally applied her sense of the ICARE principles when assisting a veteran and his wife, who lived five hours away from the SFVA. When the wife had nowhere to stay while her husband was hospitalized, Sherri helped her find a place to stay in the facility's "hotel," even offering to open up her own home to the veteran's wife if the facility was unable to accommodate her. The veteran's wife expressed her admiration, stating, "It is people like Nurse Sherri Carter that make the SFVA Medical Center so excellent."
