Paige non-verbally communicated to us that she understood what we and our children were experiencing – and she cared for us.
Our 35-year-old son was diagnosed with melanoma in early March. Further testing and scans revealed that the cancer had metabolized and there were tumors in his abdomen, lungs, neck, brain, and bones. His oncologists and neurologists developed a treatment plan that seemed to make sense but the cancer was too aggressive and fast-moving for the plan to be fully implemented and our son died at our home in hospice care.

Our son was in the VHC ICU for a week. My wife and I, as well as our son, and his brothers and sisters, appreciated the quality of care he received while there from his doctors, nurses, and others. We were particularly impressed by one member of the nursing staff, Paige; she was not only highly competent but she was also kind and compassionate and caring. I’m sure that’s to be expected of anyone in the nursing profession particularly at VHC but Paige was all these things in spades! Paige non-verbally communicated to us that she understood what we and our children were experiencing – and she cared for us. My wife and I, along with our children will always be grateful to Paige for the care and compassion she showed not only to our son but to us as well.
