Maryellen's "no problem," or "of course" became part of the treatment plan. When she would walk into wherever we were - it gave us comfort.
We were assigned Maryellen in January and didn't really understand the role she would play. Nurse Navigator? It turns out Maryellen was our North Star and navigated us through multiple doctors, multiple offices, the infusion center, and countless questions, calls, and emails. She responded efficiently and effectively and did so effortlessly.
We know the effort it must have involved, and we know we are not her only patients. Maryellen's "no problem," or "of course" became part of the treatment plan. When she would walk into wherever we were - it gave us comfort. Even if she wasn't there for us. She translated medical language into an easy-to-understand language. She is exceptional in what she does and we appreciate our Nurse Navigator so much.
While my husband is recovering and we have a feeding tube that will need to be removed and a PET that will hopefully show cancer-free, we wanted to recognize all Maryellen has done for us. We hope that you, too, will give her the recognition she deserves.
This cancer path isn't an easy one. By the grace of God and the people He put in our way, we are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. The exceptional care of the oncology team is that light.
