Valerie saved our son's life. Valerie treated us like family, like parents, and like people - not like 'just another patient.'
Around 11pm, Valerie offered to take our newborn son to the nursery so my husband and I could get some rest. I'd been awake since midnight when my water broke and my son was born at 5 am - so my husband and I were both close to dosing off. Within 20-30 minutes, Valerie returned stating that while she was in the nursery with our son, he suddenly turned blue and was silently choking on his own mucus. She got him breathing again and assembled a medical team to check him and escort him to the NICU. She came back to our room and calmly explained to us what had happened, what was going to happen next in terms of him going to the NICU and took the time to answer the dozens of questions we had. Once we felt confident in the next steps, she said that she was going to be back with late-night sandwiches since we'd be up for a while now going back and forth from recovery for my medicines to the NICU to feed and care for my son. Valerie saved our son's life. Valerie treated us like family, like parents, and like people - not like 'just another patient.' Valerie saved my son's life and for that - we will be forever grateful. Had she not offered to bring him to the nursery and had eyes on him, we may have gone home without our son.
