Juby is one of the smartest, most humble nurses I have had the good fortune of working with and learning from.
When it comes to patient care, Juby sets the bar. She is a true advocate for her patients. This nurse always ensures her patient's needs are met. As a communicator, her work is very articulate and poised. She is able to bring comfort and peace to her patients and family. She speaks with clarity, maturity, and decisiveness. She is never at a loss for words and always seems to be at ease.

This nurse is a natural leader. Juby leads by example based on hard work and dedication and not by an assertive or ego-driven presence. Doctors respect her. Her fellow nurses respect and admire her. She seems to know exactly when to lead and when to let go: when to speak and when to listen: when to assume control and when to delegate. She navigates this delicate balance between leading and listening better than almost anyone I have worked alongside. Not only is she a dedicated leader, but she is also a cooperative group member who is able to bring others together in a constructive manner. I truly believe, our night shift is in debt to her. She is one of those nurses who functions as a catalyst. She encourages learning and provides a safe environment for us to learn and ask questions.
***
She is an exceptional nurse and human being. I know she will, because of her dedication and selfless contributions continue to help this unit be the best it can be.
***
I completely agree with Juby's nomination. When she is a bedside nurse, and she has a moment, she is always asking others if they need help. Every time she is charge and I have a question she always takes the time to not only explain things but also give rationales and turns my questions into teaching moments. She constantly rounds on everyone to ensure that nurses and patients have everything they need. She is one of the smartest, most humble nurses I have had the good fortune of working with and learning from. She always stays level-headed in emergent situations. She treats everyone with dignity and respect. This includes staff as well as patients. Regardless of how stressful a shift may be, I have never heard her complain or be negative. She is the perfect example of the kind of nurse I strive to be.

Safety and strength—those are the overwhelming sensations that wash over me whenever Juby is working or taking on her responsibilities as responsibilities. Her profound compassion and ability to fortify everyone around her, especially in critical and time-sensitive situations, have earned her my utmost respect. I vividly recall a day when I had an ECMO patient on the brink of crashing, already having undergone two surgeries earlier that day. She was there that night, literally and figuratively rolling up her sleeves, standing shoulder to shoulder with me, despite overseeing the entire unit, which was exceptionally busy at the time. Amidst the chaos of that night, there were family members waiting outside in tears, longing for updates that I struggled to provide. Yet, She found the time to comfort them, bring them blankets, and offer the reassurance they desperately needed.
In the midst of that demanding night, a code was called in another unit, and she, after assisting with the emergency, promptly returned to check on the patient and me. At that moment, she reminded me of what a nurse should represent—intelligence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to go the extra mile for patients, leaving no stone unturned. It comes as no surprise that patients and their families constantly rave about her care, even when she is not their primary nurse. I am well aware that I am not the only one she has continuously aided. I have witnessed her darting from one room to another, fearlessly immersing herself in whatever task needs to be done, all in the name of helping patients. I am sure there are hundreds more nights and experiences like the one I had, where she has just been the all-encompassing blanket of strength and security our unit and patients need.
