Amber Brien: My daughter had a leuprolide stimulation test in the peds infusion center in March. I just wanted to say that Amber was amazing! My daughter has had several poor experiences with lab draws including multiple sticks and ending with her vomiting, diaphoretic, and slumping/losing consciousness. She was quite anxious about the IV being placed. I was able to get EMLA cream which helped with the pain but really it was Amber’s calm and kind demeanor that helped my daughter the most with her anticipatory anxiety. She made what is normally a frightening and stressful time for her much less so. Amber was able to get the IV in a single stick after she took her time looking for the best location. The continued sight of the IV was going to make my daughter anxious and Amber didn’t even hesitate to cover it loosely with Coban so the IV was safe, but my daughter couldn’t see it. She was kind and friendly throughout the entire experience. She explained what she was doing to my daughter every time she came into our room. I am just so thankful for Amber as a mom and a fellow nurse.
