I LOVE MIKA!!! Mika is like a family member! She has gone beyond just a “nurse”. My sister, M, has Down Syndrome and is not able to speak. Mika took a special liking to her and makes her feel so special and keeps her smiling. She makes sure to ask plenty of questions to make sure all of our needs are completely met. She crushes up M’s pills and helps her eat them. She even came into our room and gave M a St. Patrick’s Day necklace. M will not take it off. She is so easy to talk to and I feel at ease when I know she is here. She tries to think outside of the box on ways we can make things easier for M, especially since she is unable to walk and talk. She is a comfort to our whole family! I know this is such a challenging job, but she is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day! I just appreciate her so much for going above and beyond! I have never once had to even push the nurse button because she always is around checking on us. I want her to be recognized for her amazingness!

Most of the team was great but Mika went out of her way to help me understand what was going on and kept checking on me. She has so much giving and caring inside her that she definitely projects to her patients. She made me smile when she talked, the passion just flows out of her. She always went above and beyond her job description to give me the best care and knowledge that I would use once I left the hospital. She is my all time favorite nurse. I won’t forget all that she has done for me, making my extended stay as comfortable as possible. She is a very valuable asset to this hospital.
