She went above and beyond the call of duty with lavender sponge bath or taking him on a ride in the hall in the middle of the night to help him relax.
My husband was sent to RMC with a diagnosis of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis. Shortly after our arrival he had a severe stroke and hemorrhage on the brain. We spent 2 weeks in the Neuro ICU unit. The 1st week they were balancing treating the blood clots and the bleed. Everyone did an amazing job taking care of him. On day 8 he had surgery to remove the blood hemorrhage. The surgery went miraculously well and they were able to put his skull back on. The challenge in ICU was balancing his pain when they needed to be able to assess his brain function at all times. So after his surgery and his pain level was 9 ½ - 10 and all they could give him was a Tylenol. During all of this, every nurse was so helpful, but one nurse had to help my husband on two different weekends during his roughest nights. I think we had this nurse for 5 nights – each night she worked tirelessly to help him be comfortable and to rest. She went above and beyond the call of duty with lavender sponge bath or taking him on a ride in the hall in the middle of the night to help him relax. Even in his delirium, she was patient and kind. We so appreciated her extra help and care and feel like she deserves recognition for her care and dedication. She inspired us with her care and compassion. Everyone in Neuro ICU was amazing but she really helped us through some rough nights. Thank you!
