My son L was admitted to the CHOC PICU this year in very critical condition. My wife and I were emotionally unstable as my son was fighting for his life. The PICU team was so caring, thoughtful, and understanding of our situation. I met Katelyn in the morning after arriving to the hospital and she instantly made an impact on our family. She was so compassionate, caring, and very knowledgeable. She made us feel like our baby L was in the best hands and would check in on us regularly throughout the day and made sure we had anything and everything we needed. When doctors would come to see us with bad news, Katelyn was always there and stuck around after the doctors left and would console us and grieve with us. She took the time to get to know us and asked so many questions about our baby L which made us feel like he was so important to her. She took the best care of our little angel and made sure he always looked comfortable. Since the first day our baby was admitted, the doctors were very transparent with us and told us our son had a very high chance of not making it through his injury. Although the primary care was for our baby L, Katelyn made it a point to also care for us and she navigated the awful situation alongside us. She made it very easy to trust her and she even picked the nurses that would cover nights and when she was off to make sure they would be a good match with our family. Katelyn has a very special gift to care for others as if they are her family. God has blessed her with a very special talent and I am confident she is where she needs to be and where she can help people the most. Thank you to all CHOC staff! THANK YOU!
