Your skills and your knowledge saved me but it was your compassion that guided me back towards life after losing my daughter. For this, I owe you my love and deepest gratitude.
I would like to thank my nurse Iana Roby from the OB Unit. I would like to nominate Iana Roby for The DAISY Award. She made a critical difference for a patient experiencing a 19-week Perinatal Loss. The patient was seen at another hospital after experiencing cramping and bleeding at home. Iana provided support and remained with the patient through a D&C procedure. It takes a special kind of nurse to not only take care of a patient’s physical needs but to truly reach a patient’s heart. Iana provided care to Jessica in a professional, compassionate manner. She also was able to address her deepest feelings and instill a sense of strength and confidence during her most vulnerable time. The patient was so impacted by the care that she received from Iana that she reached out to Iana via hospital email to express her gratitude. The email said – “Hi Iana, I'm not sure if you remember me. I'm sorry to reach out to you this way especially knowing we both work for Advocate. I want to email you and give you a huge appreciation. Thank you for saving me. Your skills and your knowledge saved me but it was your compassion that guided me back towards life after losing my daughter. For this, I owe you my love and deepest gratitude. Thank you for showing humanity to me. Thank you for showing me I could be strong. Thank you for telling me I'm a good mom and my little angel knew that. Thank you for holding my hand every time I needed it. Thank you so much for every single little thing you did for me. Thank you so much for being the best nurse in the labor/delivery department. I hope one day I could have my rainbow baby and I want you to be my nurse. I will never forget you and how amazing you are.”
