If it were not for Rebecca, our visit would have been nothing but miserable and frightening.
I received one of the most unexpected wake up calls - my grandmother was headed emergently via EMS to the ER for a stroke. After quickly arriving to the hospital, the staff had already started working on IV access, labs, CT, but only allowed two visitors in the department at a time. Because she is Spanish-speaking only, my family requested I go to the ER with my uncle to check up on my grandmother. To everyone else, it was another regular day at a busy ER. For us, it was the worst day we have had in a long time. The only person who stepped up to the plate and helped calm our nerves was our nurse, Rebecca. Because of the strict policy, we had to turn in and out but Rebecca constantly kept us updated as we are a large family. Rebecca went out of her way to ensure my family was comfortable while in the ER and lobby. She would take moments out of her busy day and patient load to walk all the way out to the lobby and give us personal updates. If it were not for Rebecca, our visit would have been nothing but miserable and frightening. She even assisted us until the moment my grandmother was wheeled out of the department. Rebecca even checked up on us a few days later during my grandmother's admission. I am very thankful for rare nurses like Rebecca.
