Thank you for your commitment to our patients and people and for putting people first by building relationships and caring about what matters to us.
It is with great pleasure that I write this DAISY Nurse Leader Award letter to recognize your outstanding leadership and commitment to Emory Decatur Hospital and to Emory Healthcare. Your dedication to the nursing profession and our team is truly remarkable, and we are blessed to have you as part of our team.
Your leadership style is one that inspires and empowers others. You take the time to educate, mentor, and support your staff, always with succession planning in mind. Your openness to feedback and willingness to listen to different perspectives has created a strong and cohesive team, where everyone feels heard and valued.
Your fairness, honesty, and patience have made a significant impact on our team, and your ability to remain calm and thoughtful during challenging situations is truly remarkable. Your leadership during the COVID pandemic was outstanding, and your problem-solving skills and commitment to excellence are second to none.
Your soft-spoken nature and powerful advocacy for the Acute Care Division and unit directors is a rare combination, and your engagement and care for your team are unparalleled. You are a visionary and compassionate leader who is always available to support your team’s needs.
Thank you for your commitment to our patients and people and for putting people first by building relationships and caring about what matters to us. Your leadership has made a significant impact on our team, and we are grateful for your dedication and partnership.

“No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care” …. Roosevelt.
At a time when most of us feel unseen and unheard, Virginia takes time to let the team know she is listening and she cares.
Virginia, thank you for truly caring from the heart and putting people first by building relationships and caring about what matters to us.
God bless your caring heart.

Virginia is an amazing leader and mentor who has been dedicated to this organization for all of her nursing career and we are blessed to have her. This is evidenced by the number of unit directors in this operating unit who began with her as their manager. Virginia is the type of leader who empowers her staff by taking the time to educate, through words and demonstration; always with succession planning in mind.
Virginia has always been the type of leader who welcomes input and open feedback from her team. She is kind and understanding but also means business when the time comes. She does her best to try to learn all the people in her six departments (a tremendous feat)! Regardless of her current role, Virginia will always be a bedside nurse at heart. She takes joy in providing care and talking to the patients. I am honored to have worked with her and under her tutelage for so many years.

It’s an honor to provide a few highlights about my leader Virginia Njoroge.
First and foremost, Virginia is a people person. She is an inspirational leader, always encouraging others to do their very best. She ensures everyone is engaged in her team, and her compassion to serve is incredible. Virginia is resilient, remains calm under challenges, and stays true to her profession. She maintains a positive outlook always and doesn’t pretend things are not difficult when they are, but is able to redirect our focus to our mission. A quality I would like to highlight is her active listening skills. She never judges, is always fair and thrives to empower staff. She sees the qualities and potential in others and seeks to bring them to perspective. She is intuitive in noticing when something or someone is not all right. She deeply cares for her staff and makes herself available. She is dedicated to excellence and leads by example. In short- Virginia is a leader, guide, confidante, role model, mentor, and a friend. She is everything a boss ought to be and our Acute Care Team is very lucky to have her.
