Through his thoughtful counsel, we were able to make life-and-death decisions with confidence. His laser focus was always to do what was best for our Mom.
My brother, sister, and I spent two days looking after my nearly 100-year-old mother who suffered a moderately severe stroke that affected her left side. Her room was opposite the nurse station. At the nurse station a plaque read, “Nurse – Because Angel is Not a Job Title”. The nurse assigned to care for our Mom was Christopher Yawarski. He is a man of large stature who is truly an angel in disguise. He needs to be that large to contain all the compassion, knowledge, and kindness that he provided to us. Christopher’s expertise and passion is caring for stroke patients. He helped us understand what our Mother was going through immediately after the stroke; he explained various stages Mom may experience in the near and long term, and he explained various options we should consider for Mom’s care following her hospital stay. Through his thoughtful counsel, we were able to make life-and-death decisions with confidence. His laser focus was always to do what was best for our Mom. His extraordinary efforts to care for Mom and us need to be acknowledged in a very special way. Christopher has been a comforting nurse who is remarkable at his job. The incredible level of care that Christopher provided to our Mom and us would serve well as a high standard of care for this and other hospitals. Without hesitation or reservation, we would like to recommend this incredibly compassionate, and knowledgeable nurse, Christopher Yawarski, for the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
