After my hysterectomy, I woke up in post-op with bladder pain, but they said it was just the catheter and was taken upstairs. Jen saw my pain! She knew something was wrong and immediately began calling my doctor. My Dr was not able to answer the phone but SHE KEPT PUSHING!! She continued to call the office till she got him. She got an order to have the catheter removed and even asked for a CT to make sure there was nothing wrong from my surgery. My Dr. did not request she did! He gave the order. I am fine now. She got me on IV pain meds and even switched them out because I had a gastric sleeve. Probably too much air in the catheter balloon or it became twisted somehow. But hours after she pushed for removal the pain stopped! I have never seen a nurse advocate for her patient so much. I live an hour away but because of nurses like Jen, I’m going still continue my drive to Silver Cross.
