Dawn came out of nowhere and took control of the situation in the most caring and compassionate way possible.
This past weekend there was a code blue on our unit (which does not happen very often). We pulled together as a team from all over the hospital. For being a code blue, I believe it went fairly smoothly.

During the code, the patient's wife walked in and became very distraught for obvious reasons. Dawn came out of nowhere and took control of the situation in the most caring and compassionate way possible. Dawn helped the wife find a calm place to be while still being close enough to understand what was going on. She also helped the wife by explaining what was going on and by translating what the doctor was saying. She also used the wife's phone to call other family members, because she was in such a panic, she couldn't work her phone. She helped in any way she could. Dawn stayed with the patient's wife and family who began to trickle in and brought them to the ICU waiting room as the patient was transferred and stayed and comforted them throughout the entire transition. Dawn then later came back up to our unit to update and comfort us after a stressful and very emotional day.

Thank you, Dawn, for being you and always having our backs, and for being an advocate for your patients, patients' family members, and coworkers.
